WhatsApp has finally made some changes to its disappearing messages function. According to a source, it is now testing a 24-hour option for disappearing messages on Android, iOS, and Web/desktop. The instant messaging app also has a setting that allows users to set a week (7 days) for messages to vanish.
“WhatsApp won’t replace the 7 days option, but 24 hours will be an addition,” the report said on Sunday.
Whatsapp Update On Disappearing Messages
According to WABetainfo, a website that tests and publishes information about WhatsApp features in beta, WhatsApp will not replace the 7-day option with a 24-hour option.
The platform provided a screenshot of the 24-hour option in the section where users can allow or disable disappearing messages for personal and community chats.
Previously, Disappearing Messages could only be regulated by WhatsApp administrators. It recently released an iOS update that allows all members of a community to adjust the default setting for Disappearing Messages.
It is also experimenting with bringing the functionality of the disappearing image to both Android and iOS.
How Does It work?
WhatsApp will soon include the 24 hours option in the section where you’re used to enabling/disabling disappearing messages for personal and group chats.
When the user chooses “24 hours”, all messages sent/received after this change expires after 24 hours, so they will disappear from the chat.
