The Universal Account Number (UAN) issued by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is a unique 12-digit member ID allotted to every salaried individual. The UAN, in some cases, is printed on the salary slip itself. But, if the UAN is not present or the salary slip or any official document issued by the employer, the employees can get their respective UAN from the EPF-led UAN web portal https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/. The UAN is allotted automatically upon the beginning of the first job.
Following the successive changes in the jobs, the UAN remains the same, however, the EPFO assigns a fresh identification (ID) which is linked with the original UAN.
How to get UAN number in 7 simple steps
Step 1: Log in to https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/.
Step 2: Click on ‘Know your UAN status’ under the ‘Important Links’ head.
Step 3: Enter member ID, select state, select regional provident fund office, fill in basic details such as name, date of birth, mobile number, email id and captcha code.
Please note, the Provident Fund (PF) member ID/number can be obtained from the salary slip.
Step 4: Click on ‘Get Authorization Pin’.
