Diablo Immortal is an Always-Online Game

Diablo Immortal for Android and iOS has been announced by Blizzard at the BlizzCon 2018, and the company confirms that it will need players to remain always online. Diablo Immortal lead game designer Wyatt Cheng in an interview at BlizzCon 2018 confirmed that players will not be allowed to play offline in the game.

Multiplayers are the key to Diablo Immortal and as expected, players in same zone will be allowed to view each other and enter dungeons with parties. Users will be allowed for a single play, but they need to be connected to the Internet for that as well. Diablo Immortal also packs the Battle.net integration.

Wyatt Cheng also compared Diablo Immortal and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, informing that the Blizzard has more stories to tell in the Diablo universe and it will not be positioned as a mainline title though. Cheng said, “We were looking at this 20-year period in between Diablo II, Lord of Destruction, and Diablo III, and we said, ‘All these events happened, so we should take a look at creating a game that explores that space in time.”
