Attention! WhatsApp Will No Longer Work On These Phones
It might be bad news for few WhatsApp users! The company is ending support to a number of devices which will no longer be able to run WhatsApp from December 31. That means if you are right now using older smartphones then you need to replace it right before the year 2016 ends.
As we all know WhatsApp is the most popular messaging services which are currently used by more than 95% of smartphone owners in India. There is a good news too! WhatsApp will not block users having old smartphones. But, users will not get upcoming features.
WhatsApp on its official blog said “As we look ahead to our next seven years, we want to focus our efforts on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use. So, by the end of 2016, we will be ending support for WhatsApp Messenger on the following mobile platformsâ€
The devices that will no longer get support from WhatsApp are:
- BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10
- Nokia S40
- Nokia Symbian S60
- Android 2.1 and Android 2.2
- Windows Phone 7.1
- iPhone 3GS/iOS 6
WhatsApp had mentioned that these devices are an important part of their story. However, the devices no more offer the kind of capabilities and they need to expand their app’s features in the future
WhatsApp in the blog said, “This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp.â€
So, those who are using older phones need to upgrade to a newer Android, iPhone or Windows Phone to continue using WhatsApp after December 31, 2016.Share:
